About Auctions @ Number 1

Auctions @ Number One Limited was born on the 14th December 2023 and is the brain child of Linda Lockyer, Director, and Kim Rose, Auctioneer after having found the most beautiful Listed Georgian Building in Gosport High Street which they thought would make the perfect Antiques Room and Auction House.

Kim has wanted to be an Auctioneer since he held a few Auctions in Romsey in Hampshire.  However, as you all know, timing is key.  Well things have now all fallen into place, so Kim now has his platform, well Rostrum, to 'gavel away' on and which, following numerous lovely comments from our now regular bidders, they find us very entertaining with Kim's passion and enthusiasm together with Linda's banter.

Kim has been an active person within the jewellery/gold trade since 1976 and, as you will see from our home page, he took on Gordon Brown's Government and the Bank Of England over the selling off of the Gold Reserves.  So why not go and have a little Google on that and you can see for yourself.  By doing this he was launched World Wide, to the point that an old friend of his called him from Japan to say that he has just flashed up on the TV Screen over there.

Linda is from a completely different back ground as she has practiced for more years than she cares to remember in the legal world of Solicitors practising in Property Law, so she has undergone a complete career and life style change.

Linda and Kim are a bit of a double act Kim bring mayhem and chaos, where Linda brings structure and organisation.

Queen Victoria would come to Gosport by Train regularly to board the boat to go to Osborne House in the Isle of Wight.  In fact Prince Albert had an additional branch line built to join to Royal Clarence Yard back in 1843 at a staggering cost of over £6,000.  Clarence Yard is located to the rear of the Auction House.

Gosport is steep further in history with the Armed Forces, whether it be running the ammunitions across the harbour to the Dock Yard from the storage area in Gosport to RN Haslar Hospital.
